Lowering the Cost of Living
Lowering the Cost of Living
People who work hard should be able to support their families, save for the future, and feel financially secure where they live. I’ve worked with labor leaders to create good-paying jobs that help families get ahead, and I’ll keeping fighting to make sure that everyone who wants to call California home is paid enough to live here.
As your Assemblymember, I will work to lower the cost of living by:
Raising wages to a true living wage and strengthening workers’ rights so families can keep up with rising costs.
Cracking down on corporate price gouging for groceries, fuel, and essential goods.
Lowering utility costs by investing in clean energy, energy efficiency upgrades, and community solar programs that reduce monthly bills while implementing regular audits of investor-owned utility profits to ensure lower energy bills for working families.
Closing corporate tax loopholes and ensuring billionaires pay their fair share so working families aren’t footing the bill.
Strengthening rent control and tenant protections while investing in affordable housing to lower housing costs.
Increasing affordable health care access to eliminate premiums, copays, and surprise medical bills that strain family budgets.
Expanding access to universal childcare and strengthening afterschool programs to ease the financial burden on working families.
Reducing student debt and expanding tuition-free higher education pathways.
