Housing Affordability

We need solutions that make it possible for every Californian to live stable, affordable lives starting with housing. A job loss, medical procedure, or natural disaster shouldn’t force a family to fall behind on their mortgage or lose their home. That’s why I will be a strong advocate for tenants and fight to increase home building so more people can afford to buy a home in the communities they want to live and work in.

Homeownership should be accessible to working families and affordable housing should be prioritized over luxury developments. I will work to expand funding for affordable housing, and support state and local partnerships that make homeownership more attainable for people who need it most.

As your Assemblymember, I will work to make housing more affordable by:

  • Exempting 100% affordable housing from property taxes to motivate building more homes.

  • Reforming restrictive laws that price working class and young families out of communities.

  • Streamlining permits and approvals for affordable housing projects.

  • Supporting multi-family housing opportunities near transit.

  • Passing accountability measures to prevent Wall Street speculators from taking advantage of our communities.
