Housing Affordability
We need solutions that make it possible for every Californian to live stable, affordable lives starting with housing. A job loss, medical procedure, or natural disaster shouldn’t force a family to fall behind on their mortgage or lose their home. That’s why I will be a strong advocate for tenants and fight to increase home building so more people can afford to buy a home in the communities they want to live and work in.
Homeownership should be accessible to working families and affordable housing should be prioritized over luxury developments. I will work to expand funding for affordable housing, and support state and local partnerships that make homeownership more attainable for people who need it most.
As your Assemblymember, I will work to make housing more affordable by:
Exempting 100% affordable housing from property taxes to motivate building more homes.
Reforming restrictive laws that price working class and young families out of communities.
Streamlining permits and approvals for affordable housing projects.
Supporting multi-family housing opportunities near transit.
Passing accountability measures to prevent Wall Street speculators from taking advantage of our communities.
