Creating a Clean and Healthy Environment
Our families and our children deserve clean water, unpolluted air, and accessible public outdoor spaces. As a high school science teacher in Watts, I saw firsthand how my students had to deal with the effects of pollution and a lack of investment and attention. Seeing our students left behind made me determined to fix the gaps government had left and to build healthier and more livable communities for our kids.
With Watts Rising, I helped implement a Transformative Climate Communities (TCC) grant for our community to:
Create over 300 construction and permanent jobs
Construct 289 new affordable homes
Purchase 10 new battery-electric buses
Plant over 3,000 new trees
Install solar panel installations on 300 homes
Create 25+ blocks of pedestrian improvements and urban trails
These are the kinds of real investments our community needs and as Assemblymember, I will fight to ensure the jobs and investments we deserve reach our community.
